Improperly disposed of PCs, monitors, and other hardware
leach toxic metals into the soil, contaminate water supplies, and can wind up
costing millions of dollars in fines, cleanup costs, and bad publicity.
Storing equipment that will never be used again – often at great expense –
is not a good option for any organization.
Intechra’s comprehensive solutions help
businesses protect the environment and their communities.
Adhering to a zero-landfill policy, we de-manufacture
and recycle 100% of retired assets that are non-functional
or are too outdated to be remarketed.
Using processes we’ve been refining since 1987, we now recycle over
two million computers and component parts each year. As part of our commitment
to our zero-landfill policy, we’ve spent over 10 years and millions of
dollars on the research and development of clean, sustainable end-of-life practices.
"Our main interest is not value recovery but making sure our disposal needs are handled in an environmentally safe manner... Intechra provides environmentally safe disposal and makes sure all laws are followed. It's a good deal. It relieves us of a big burden and takes care of the security risks."

Intechra holds eight patents on the techniques and machinery
used to separate and recycle printed wiring assemblies
(PWAs). These innovations have led to dozens of new uses
for base materials. Intechra continues to be active in
finding new uses for recycled material that decrease the
world's use of natural resources and support eco-system
sustainability.
Navigating
the ever-changing patchwork of federal and state regulations
can be difficult, particularly for companies with diversified
operations in a number of different locations. In 2004
and 2005 alone there were over 67 bills introduced at
the state and federal level concerning electronics recycling
and landfill disposal bans. Many of these states and
other jurisdictions have enacted their own environmental
compliance laws – like
those making it illegal to ship eWaste to local landfills – and
more laws and regulations are on the horizon. And internationally
there are 11 countries, including China, that have adopted
the European Union Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment
(WEEE) Directive. Meanwhile, HIPPA, Gramm-Leach-Bliley,
and SOX set forth specific rules for handling sensitive
financial data.
Intechra stays current with all relevant environmental and data reporting laws and regulations. That means you don’t have to worry about whether your company is meeting its compliance requirements. Instead, you can count on us to fulfill your requirements through strict regulatory compliance and detailed recordkeeping. Intechra eliminates your compliance risk.
Intechra
maintains a leadership position within the National Recycling
Coalition to monitor and influence environmental policy
development, and is active within the International Association
of Electronic Recyclers (IAER) and the U.S. EPA in defining
recycling and refurbishment best practices promoted around
the world. Intechra is ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001, and
OHSAS 18001 certified.
Intechra
partners with leaders in the downstream recycling industry
that have been audited and qualified to our rigorous
standards. Our qualified partners process all electronic
components in accordance with our strict contractual
requirements, which in many cases exceed minimum regulatory
statutes. We work only with ethical, EPA-compliant recycling
partners, and regularly audit and closely monitor their
practices to ensure they meet all state and federal standards.
Intechra’s partner standards are the strictest
in the ITAD industry and include restrictions on the
use of prison and child labor, U.S. government trade
bans, and using recycled material in the manufacturing
of weapons of mass destruction.
